Copyright and intellectual property

In short: Pages you make on a paid plan are yours to use, print and sell. Free plan pages are for personal use. Colorune will not draw characters or brands somebody else owns, and we act quickly on infringement reports.
1. Pages you generate
| Free plan | Any paid plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Print at home, school or a club | Yes | Yes |
| Share with friends and family | Yes | Yes |
| Visible Colorune watermark | Yes | No |
| Use in something you sell | No | Yes |
| Publish a colouring book | No | Yes |
| Modify and combine with your own work | Personal use only | Yes |
| Licence continues after cancelling | — | Yes, permanently |
The paid licence is worldwide, perpetual and royalty-free, and it survives cancellation of your subscription. You do not owe us anything further for pages you already made.
What the licence does not do is resell access to the generator. Selling colouring pages or books you made is fine; selling access to Colorune itself is not. See the terms of service.
2. An honest word about AI output and copyright
In several countries, including the United States, work produced by an AI model without meaningful human authorship may not attract copyright protection at all. That is the current legal position, and it is not something we can change by writing a licence.
So to be precise: we give you every right we have, and we will not stand in your way. We do not promise that a generated page is original, that nobody else will generate something similar, or that you can register it as your own copyright. If that matters for your project, take your own legal advice.
3. Material you upload
Your photographs stay yours. By uploading one you confirm that you took it, or that you own it, or that the person who does has given you permission to use it this way. You keep all rights in it; we get only the narrow permission needed to generate your page, as set out in the privacy policy.
If you upload something you do not have the right to use, the responsibility for that is yours, and we will remove it on request from the rights holder.
4. Other people's characters and brands
Colorune blocks prompts that name well-known copyrighted characters and registered trademarks, and it will not reproduce a company's logo. This protects you as much as anyone: a colouring book full of somebody else's characters is not one you can lawfully sell.
No filter is perfect. If a generated page turns out to resemble protected material, it is still on you not to publish it, and on us to improve the filter when we hear about it.
5. Our own material
The Colorune name, the logo, this site's design and copy, the sample pages shown across the site, and the software behind the generator all belong to us. Please do not copy the site or present the samples as your own.
6. Reporting an infringement
If you own rights in material that you believe has been infringed through Colorune, email support@alestrasara.shop with the subject line Copyright notice, and include:
- Identification of the work you say has been infringed.
- Identification of the material on Colorune that you are complaining about, with enough detail for us to find it.
- Your contact email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
- Your electronic signature.
We acknowledge notices within one business day and act on valid ones promptly. We operate a repeat-infringer policy: accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, email us with the same subject line and explain why, including your contact email and a statement to that effect. We will review it and restore the material where the counter-notice is well founded.
7. AI-generation markers
Every page Colorune produces carries a machine-readable marker identifying it as AI-generated. Removing or tampering with that marker breaches the acceptable use policy. See the AI content disclosure for what is embedded and why.
